Mission Statement

Cure JM Foundation’s mission is to find a cure and better treatments for Juvenile Myositis (JM) and to improve the lives of families affected by JM. Juvenile Myosits is a life-threatening disease that causes a child’s body to attack itself, including the heart, lungs, muscles, skin, and joints.

Cure JM Foundation is the only organization solely dedicated to funding research and helping families affected by JM.

The Giving Block only equips registered charities to accept crypto donations. Because crypto is classified as property by the IRS (and many other tax agencies globally), in addition to a write off, you do not have to pay capital gains tax on donated crypto. Consult a tax professional to confirm specifics. Or contact us to be put in touch with one.

To receive a tax receipt, you must enter your email at the end of the widget. Your email can be de-identified, and you do not need to disclose any personal information on the second page of the widget. Unless you want to stay in touch!

Why donate Bitcoin?

Cure JM was introduced to cryptocurrency by Damon, a longtime cryptocurrency investor. Here’s Damon’s story:

“My son Mason was diagnosed with Juvenile Myositis (JM) at just 17 months old. His battle went up and down through the years but in 2008 Mason's strength took a steep decline where he was no longer able to move his arms or legs.

Mason would go on to spend the next four years in-and-out of the hospital. On June 19, 2012, Mason lost his battle against the disease. Mason will always be remembered for his smile, his witty character and his ability to share love with everyone he encountered.

We believe in Cure JM’s mission and we believe in fundraising for Cure JM. We raise funds so that no other child ever has to suffer like Mason did.

Our family is raising funds this year in memory of Mason. We miss him every single day.”
- Mason’s Dad, Damon

We honor Mason and his shining spirit of strength and resilience. We hope that you’ll support Cure JM's mission and help us in the search for better treatments and a cure.
Over the years, the organization has grown substantially. Through nationwide grassroots fundraising efforts, Cure JM Foundation has raised over $13 million for JM research and education. These funds have been used to help establish JM Research and Treatment Centers of Excellence at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Duke Children's Hospital and Medical Center, and Seattle Children's Hospital. In addition, Cure JM Foundation has funded a wide range of genetic and JM treatment studies, as well as fellowships. Cure JM also co-produced the first-ever book on JM, Myositis and You, featuring contributions from over 80 experts and medical professionals.
