Responsive to Our Community

Mission Statement

Responsive to Our Community is a 501(c)3 charity that works collaboratively with the community and government to identify blighted and vacant multi-family homes and then provides on-the-job maintenance and repair training to at-risk veterans to refurbish and restore the buildings in rustbelt cities. We are currently operating in Syracuse, NY and Oneida, NY and look forward to expanding to a city near you soon.

Tax Savings (read below)

The Giving Block only equips registered charities to accept crypto donations. Because crypto is classified as property by the IRS (and many other tax agencies globally), in addition to a write off, you do not have to pay capital gains tax on donated crypto. Consult a tax professional to confirm specifics. Or contact us to be put in touch with one.

To receive a tax receipt, you must enter your email at the end of the widget. Your email can be de-identified, and you do not need to disclose any personal information on the second page of the widget. Unless you want to stay in touch!

ROC's mission provides aid to a segment of the population that has been historically under-served. It focuses on supporting homeless abused families that are Very Low Income (below 50% Area Median Income (AMI)). Most other housing charities assist those at the 80%, or even 120%, AMI level. ROC is committed to assisting those that are the hardest to reach. ROC also works with sister charities to help its tenants secure a coordinator or case manager to ensure that the individual and their family are getting the physiological, emotional, and vocational training they need for future independent living.

Finally, ROC will develop these affordable housing units for the hardest-to-serve indigent citizens, with rehab construction costs of approximately $60,000/unit, which is less than half the average cost per affordable housing unit created by others in the country. A 2014 study on the average cost per affordable housing units in six US states conducted reported that Texas had the lowest development range of $103,943/unit [1] [2]. Our lower rehabilitation costs are achieved through volunteer legal, architectural, accounting, and administrative services.
