Leveraging Blockchain and Cryptocurrency for Impact
Time & Location
About the Event
Blockchain is one of the largest technological disruptors of our lifetime, changing the way that we do finance, accounting, and record keeping.
You may be intimately familiar with what blockchain is, or the name might just be a buzzword you hear on the news. Regardless of your familiarity with blockchain, this technology has incredible implications for social and environmental impact. Join us, as we hear from three DC professionals that are using this technology to make an impact.
Patrick Gallagher, a local blockchain developer, will set the stage by giving an overview of blockchain and cryptocurrency technology. Next, we will hear from The Giving Block, a company that is using cryptocurrency transactions to effectively finance non-profit ventures. They'll describe the tax implications for cryptocurrencies and the ways in which partner organizations are leveraging these donations as well as other blockchain technologies for social and environmental impact.
